Historic Mission in Downtown San Luis Obispo, CAFounded by Father Junipero Serra in 1772, Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa was the fifth of twenty-one missions constructed in California. Unique in both design and function, the mission features a one-of-a-kind L-shaped structure, an impressive belfry, a vestibule, gardens, and fountains. The mission is situated in the heart of downtown San Luis Obispo and is one of the few that still continues to function as a fully operational church.
